BUDGAM: Union Minister of State (IC) Ministry of Science and Technology; Minister of State (IC) Ministry of Earth Sciences; MoS of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh today opened the newly refurbished Boys’ High School building featuring a smart classroom with a digitized system at Ompora Budgam.
The two-storey 10-room school building for smart classrooms also includes facilities such as a library and a common room.
While interacting with staff and students, the Minister assured that the school building will be highly equipped with the latest facilities including smart classrooms and solar installation as a priority.
During his visit to Budgam district, the Minister also interacted with covid affected children at Conference Hall Budgam.
Commemorating 8 years of Modi Govt, he distributed checks of Rs. 10k, school bags, Ayushman Bharat (golden cards), scholarships under the Saksham scheme among beneficiaries who have been hit hard during the pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that after 8 years of government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Center has launched PM Care for children, an initiative to reach out to children.
He said the aim of the initiative is to send a message across the country that affected children who have lost their parents should not feel like orphans.
“These are our own children and we as a society have a collective responsibility to care for them,” the minister said.
He further stated that the Union government is committed to good governance and has ensured all possible support to these children and all other needy through various programs and initiatives initiated by the central government.
The minister also attended the finals of different sporting events at the under-19 interzonal district level at the Budgam sports stadium, where he also distributed sports kits and trophies to the participants.
After declaring the games open, the minister called for proper identification of the talents of young sports fans and their proper training for their best performance on the pitch.
He urged the youngsters to play sports which is now recognized as one of the career options.
Later, the minister inspected various booths set up by different departments and distributed certificates of improvement to deserving recipients. He distributed authorization letters and agricultural equipment to various farmers on this occasion.
During his tour, the minister also distributed scooties, needy aid prostheses and marriage assistance certificates of a check of Rs 50,000 each to girls living below the poverty line. He said the Modi government, after eight years of service to the nation, is reaching out to the people with the spirit of “Seva” that has been the hallmark of Prime Minister Modi’s regime.
Later, various delegations including members of DDC and BDC, councillors, PRI, members of civil society, traders, youth delegations, political workers and other different delegations called on the minister to Budgam conference room.
They reported their problems and their demands to the Minister for prompt redress.
The Minister patiently listened to the delegations and ensured that all their genuine demands would be given priority consideration.
Among others, DDC Chairman Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Khan, DC Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza, SSP Budgam, Tahir Saleem, DDC and BDC members, Chairman of Budgam City Council, district and district officers were present at the occasion.
