NetApp announced that it has been selected by Narayana Health to modernize its IT systems and meet the new demands of healthcare management. NetApp will help Narayana Health in storage efficiency and optimize data management across locations thus helping advance medical care in India.

Through this collaboration, Narayana Health unveiled Athma, an in-house records management system that enables the company to manage its data securely and efficiently while leveraging NetApp® solutions.

As one of the largest hospital groups in the country, Narayana Health treats more than 2.6 million patients each year, making data critical to its operations. A huge challenge the group faced was providing quick access to patient records to facilitate faster diagnosis and faster response times. Because a reliable and responsive IT infrastructure was critical to achieving this goal, Narayana Health deployed NetApp technology solutions to store and process patient records and images. The resulting system, Athma, captures, stores and retrieves networks at 15 sites. The system allows medical staff and patients to access their entire medical history within seconds, further improving the quality of healthcare services provided by Narayana.

Elaborating on NetApp’s offering, Ramu Manjunath, Core Infrastructure Head, Narayana Health, said, “NetApp comes with a unique approach to data management. Data storage on NetApp is much faster compared to other solution providers. It offers simple and easy infrastructure management solutions to our engineers. The entire move to NetApp was pretty simple and seamless from implementation, architecture point of view, and support. »

“With Athma, patients have complete continuity of their entire medical history. Their history is available in our system and can be retrieved in seconds, so doctors can review and take a call rather than going back and forth to find records or reinvesting in investigations,” he said. added.

For new-age healthcare providers, accessibility to health data and records is of paramount importance today. With our heritage and experience in data management, as well as our core technology offerings, we are happy to contribute to the changing healthcare landscape in India. It is an accomplishment to see our solutions directly enable medical practitioners to provide better medical care to those in need.

The centralized data and application storage system is based on NetApp and is made available in the cloud. NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP software makes storage management easy. Two fully replicated data centers, one in Central India and one in South India, perform backup and recovery using Azure NetApp Files and NetApp File Services . The system provides clinical staff with critical and timely information that further enables them to provide better patient care.

The Narayana Health Hospital System plans to expand: It plans to increase the number of locations and add more clinical services to its more than 60 specialties.
