IT Recruitment Activity in India’s Tech Industry Drops 4.8% in September 2022


India’s tech industry saw a 4.8% decline in IT hiring activity in September 2022 compared to the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

Overall industry hiring was down 5.18% in September 2022 compared to August 2022.

Of the total tech industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 39.56% share in September 2022, down 0.74% from the average share for the past three months.

Top Five Job Classifications in Indian Tech Industry IT Recruitment Activity in September 2022

Out of the total number of job titles, the top five roles accounted for 97.8% of the Indian tech industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in September 2022.

1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 66.48% in September 2022, registering a growth of 13.34% compared to the previous month.

2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a share of 12.59%, an increase of 25.83% from the previous month.

3) Computer and information analysts held an 11.06% share, up 0.17% from August 2022.

4) IT support specialists captured a 4.69% share, down 0.78% from the prior month.

Top Five Tech Companies in IT Recruitment Activity in India in September 2022

The top five companies, by number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 56.41% in overall Indian tech industry IT recruitment activity in September 2022 compared to August 2022.

Accenture posted 3,355 IT jobs in September 2022 and grew 85.05% from the previous month, followed by Oracle with 908 jobs and growth of 4.97%. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone with 793 IT jobs and Infosys with 597 jobs, recorded growth of 5.31% and growth of 706.76%, respectively, while Genpact recorded an increase of 5.37% with 353 offers employment in September 2022.

Mid-level job openings dominate in September 2022

Mid-level jobs held a share of 51.01%, up 31.5% from August 2022. Junior-level positions, with a share of 40.47%, saw a decline of 3.57 % compared to the previous month.

In third place were entry-level job advertisements with 6.48% share, up 2.77% from August 2022, while senior job advertisements accounted for 1.95%, registering a monthly increase of 65.63%.
