IT Recruitment Activity in India’s Tech Industry Drops 11.0% in May 2022

India’s tech industry saw an 11.0% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 from the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

Overall industry hiring was down 6.3% in May 2022 compared to April 2022.

Of the total tech industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 29.06% share in May 2022, down 4.86% from the average share for the past three months. .

Top Five Job Classifications in Indian Tech Industry IT Recruitment Activity in May 2022

Out of the total number of job titles, the top five roles accounted for a share of 99.35% of the overall IT recruitment activity of the Indian tech industry in May 2022.

1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 78.48% in May 2022, registering a decrease of 19.85% compared to the previous month.

2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a share of 8.41%, down 23.27% from the prior month.

3) Computer and information analysts held a 5.77% share, down 26.78% from April 2022.

4) Miscellaneous IT occupations captured a share of 3.74%, down 39.18% from the previous month.

Top Five Tech Companies in IT Recruitment Activity in India in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 27.29% in the share of the Indian tech industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in May 2022 compared to April 2022.

Accenture posted 2,485 IT jobs in May 2022 and was down 26.89% from the previous month, followed by International Business Machines with 1,037 jobs and down 29.22%. Tata Communications with 375 IT jobs and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone with 358 jobs, recorded a growth of 141.94% and a decline of 25.1%, respectively, while Oracle recorded a decline of 59.31% with 328 job offers in May 2022.

Mid-level job openings dominate in May 2022

Mid-level jobs held a share of 49.58%, down 20.9% from April 2022. Junior-level positions, with a share of 45.62%, saw a decline of 16.39 % compared to the previous month.

In third place were entry-level job advertisements with 4.03% market share, down 34.53% from April 2022, while senior job advertisements accounted for 0.78%, recording a monthly decline of 68.44%.
