Indian startups are building new infrastructure for India using technology: Vikram Chopra, CEO of CARS24


The Indian startup scenario has grown exponentially since 2021. An increasing number of investors are gaining confidence and India is on the path to becoming the next unicorn hub. Addressing the large plenary session of the CII Global Unicorn Summit 2022, Vikram Chopra, Founder and CEO of CARS24, along with CEO of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant.

Speaking at the session, Vikram explained the growing number of Indian startups that have cemented their global presence. He added that India’s startup ecosystem is now mature and building new infrastructure with the right use of technology; citing an example of the Mega Refurbishment Labs that CARS24 has invested in to provide quality cars to used car buyers in India. Vikram also expressed his pride in the outstanding entrepreneurial talent coming from Tier II and Tier III cities, pointing out that he himself hails from Rae Bareli.

Chopra also spoke about India’s unicorns becoming the flag bearers of Indian entrepreneurship around the world, counting themselves as part of this proud list. He further said that Indians now run most of the global businesses, which demonstrates the pool of talent that this country produces.

Speaking on government policies, he added that the government has demonstrated its consistent support for startups through the creation of several new policies that act as enablers such as UPI, account aggregation, GST, to name a few. These policies, introduced today, will lead to a boom in the Indian entrepreneur ecosystem and startups will be able to soar to new heights in any field of their choice, he added.

Meanwhile, the used car industry has also experienced phenomenal growth globally. CARS24, which achieved unicorn status in 2020, has also experienced remarkable growth in providing the best experience to its customers across the globe.
