SRINAGAR: J&K Forest Department today organized a one-day training program on e-Green Watch technologies for Srinagar Forest Circle officers at the Forest Complex, Sheikhbagh, here.
About 25 officials have been trained in the use of GPS, sampling technologies and uploading KMZ files to the national green portal.
Addressing participants at the closing session of the training programme, Conservator of Forests, Srinagar Circle, Zubair Ahmad Shah, said that in this age of technology, it is essential that forest managers and forestry staff in first line are trained in the latest technologies such as the use of GPS, sensing remote control, e-green watch etc. to facilitate the sharing of information for better protection and management of forests.
Resource person Saleem Ajaz Mughal demonstrated the features of the e-Green Watch system including site identification, site selection using various parameters, planting project preparation, work estimates, progress of planting work, financial and physical inspection, internal and external evaluations of forestry work and planting. review etc.
He explained to the trainees that the data that will be generated by them in the coming months will be used by Forest Survey of India to create a comprehensive inventory of forest resources at J&K UT.
Later, the divisional identification of errors which were flagged by Forest Survey of India and the handling of rectification of errors were explained by the resource person.
