BARC India embarks on large-scale infrastructure overhaul with Yotta

Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, the world’s largest television audience measurement service provider, has revamped its data center infrastructure by migrating to Yotta NM1 – the only Tier IV data center in India with Uptime Institute’s Operational Sustainability Gold Tier Certification.

Today, BARC India operates the largest and most diverse television measurement system in the world, covering approximately 215,055 people in 50,000 households, in over 522 districts spanning over 622 cities and over 1,500 villages across India, which is representative enough of the Indian microcosm of television.

BARC India’s operations critically depend on a robust technology core and the future readiness of its infrastructure. Considering this, BARC India has proactively decided to revamp its digital infrastructure and realign its data center capabilities and readiness for the future keeping an eye on scalability and high availability. The organization is constantly taking steps to always provide the best to its stakeholders and the ever-growing ecosystem.

Sharing more on this, Mahendra K Upadhyay, CIO, BARC India, said, “Due to the nature of our business, an always-on, high-performing back-end infrastructure is uncompromising. But our existing legacy configuration impacted infrastructure and network performance readiness. In addition, much of the IT equipment required rapid updating, which prompted us to migrate our entire infrastructure to a data center that ticked all the boxes of our criteria. After rigorous evaluation of various service providers, only Yotta NM1, with its world-class quality that has been validated by the data center industry’s highest certification, was best placed to help us meet not only our current needs, but also to become resilient for the future.”

Following an in-depth study of their digital footprint, BARC India designed and executed a detailed project plan for the migration, complementing it with professional IT services to create an optimized network architecture, with Yotta. To exclude any impact on operations during the migration, the team simultaneously built a parallel configuration to ensure the status quo. Thanks to the proven expertise of Yotta’s certified team, the entire lift-and-shift migration was completed in a single day.

Sunil Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of Yotta Infrastructure, said, “Trends and end-consumer factors are among the top decision-makers in digital transformation. More and more organizations are phasing out IT infrastructure that hinders business growth and service delivery. As the trusted partner of choice for businesses – from root to stern – Yotta powers digital excellence for business, and BARC India’s journey is a testament to that. Continuing our commitment to helping organizations excel, we are solidifying our role as a catalyst for end-to-end digital transformation through customer testimonials. »
