Aligarh: Two students from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), pursuing Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electronic Engineering from ZH College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), were awarded Best Paper Award for their work on the lightweight deep learning model for automation. CXR Images’ Covid-19 diagnosis at the recent Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Computer Science Online Conference.
In the research paper, students, B Zahid Hussain and Ifrah Andleeb, who authored the research paper under the guidance of Dr Mohammad Samar Ansari (Associate Professor, Department of Electronic Engineering) and Nadia Kanwal (Academic based in Ireland) have highlighted deep learning for Covid diagnosis from a variety of images such as CT scans and chest X-rays.
According to the students, “The model suggested in the paper matches the performance of other available DL models and is one of the lightest high-performance models for automated Covid detection via CXR images. This model will also be less expensive than RT-PCR testing and allow for faster treatment trajectories.”
Their paper was selected for the prize from over 90 papers by students from various engineering schools.
